This is the third year of City Center Summer Stars. The Wiz originally opened in
1975 to become one of the first and most successful African American
musicals on Broadway. All characters are African-American. Both musically
and textually, this production will retain the sensibility of the 70’s culture.
Seeking Ensemble dancers: Men and women. All characters are African-
American, 18-30. Seeking excellent, athletic, technical dancers who are
proficient in all forms of dance. The show will include hip hop, contemporary
jazz, and African styles. Some dancers will tap. All should be sexy and possess
unique personalities and have the ability to play a wide variety of larger-than-
life characters. Some must be great R&B/pop theatre singers in addition.
1st rehearsal: May 18, 2009. Runs: June 12 - July 3, 2009.
Equity Chorus Call / Dancers: Monday, March 9, 10 AM — Equity male dancers
& 2 PM — Equity female dancers
151 West 26th Street, 5th Floor
Be warmed up and ready to dance at the start of the call. Bring gym
shoes/sneakers, jazz shoes, knee pads and heels for women.
Be prepared to sing, if asked. Bring sheet music for a brief appropriate song;
Bring picture and resume, stapled together.
